Anyone watching the Rust trial?

Quick bits, this time about how obtuse and childish Kari Morrisey is.

So yesterday the case for dismissing all charges against HGR was discussed in court. I watched it. ALL OF IT. Here are the quick bits.

Kari Morissey has a voice that would grate cheese, and she rambled on and on and ON. Lots of stuff was irrevelent, some of it was not truthful, all of it made my ears cry. Here’s Emily’s quick bits. I can’t deal with this again. Judge Sommers will make a
determination early next week. I think Morrissey will get schooled.

They’re releasing the movie at a Polish film festival.

Ugh. Interesting though. I hope nobody goes to see it, in Poland or anywhere. Guaranteed there will be morons complaining that the fatal shooting wasn’t shown. Yes my faith in general human intelligence is that low. Hannah G is still in prison. Her motion for release was denied yesterday in court. She also is facing charges related to smuggling a gun in her undies into an establishment that sells liquor. You couldn’t make it up.

ETA - Alec Baldwin is a repulsive ghoul for promoting the screening of this clusterfuck. I loathe him anew.

Thanks, Kelly. You got it before Emily DB, the fave YouTube legal boffin!

I did like Alec Baldwin in Hunt for The Red October, it’s a shame this tragic Rust fatal shooting incident has tarnished him.

Oy. It goes on, seemingly forever. Now HG has to face the charge of smuggling a gun into a bar, concealed in her panties. Still don’t know what’s happening with Judge Sommer’s other ruling…

The reaction to news that Rust is premiering at a Polish film festival is not being taken well by the creative industry. I’m not 100% positive that it was Alec Baldwin’s decision alone, but he was the producer and surely could have stopped this revolting betrayal.
Even worse, Rust is being toted as “tribute” to Helena Hutchins. I’m so disgusted that people are happy to line their pockets with what was a tragedy. The film industry is not greeting this news well, or accepting the tribute bullshit.

The Rust case and its offshoots have been on hiatus as long as this board, so no news there. In the interim, I’ve been following the Sarah Boone case which is gonna be a slash/bang 2nd degree murder verdict. It’s about a woman, who had a relationship with a guy based on alcohol, collecting unemployment $ and sex. One night they were playing “hide and seek” in SBs apartment and it ended with her getting him to “hide” in a suitcase and verbally abusing him while he was saying he couldn’t breathe. At some point, she shoved the suitcase down a flight of stairs with George Torres still in it, and hit him with a bat. Then she went to bed, fell asleep and found George very dead the following morning still inside the case. She panicked and called the cops. This case is in Florida, don’t know how they rank degrees of murder, but it’s expected Sarah will get 2nd degree murder. The trial has been very streamlined and things moved swiftly. Both Emily and I are impressed by how little fluffing around there was and there could be verdict today or tomorrow. That’s a 5 day murder trial. It’s sickening but because things were moving so fast I followed it once it got to court, this past Monday. Boone has testified. Oh, boy. Changed her story and contradicted herself on the stand so much it’s unreal.
I’ll watch until the verdict is in, even though it’s a foregone conclusion it’ll be some degree of murder. I’m waiting for the Rust palava to wind up. Will Hannah get bail? Will Baldwin get hammered by civil cases? Oh, who knows.

ETA - The Boone case is being heard and live on Emily’s channel right now, so I’m gonna watch. The chat is saying SB will get off on mental health issues. I bloody hope not. She needs to go down.

ETAA-Sarah Boone is a woman in her 30s or 40s . George looked to be younger, twenties or early 30s. He weighed 92 lbs and was 5’2” at the time he died. Sarah was physically bigger and no doubt stronger than George.

Sarah Boone vs the State of Florida. Unanimous verdict guilty 2nd degree murder took the jury under a hour. They witnessed Sarah abusing George via footage she recorded on her phone. So she could watch it all and get the feels again? I will never understand people. Fucked up. She will be sentenced early December. Till then she’s in some local jail. Sentence anywhere between 20 years to life.
I mistook George for a much younger man. He, like Sarah was early 40’s. He was so small and looked young. He was learning disabled and an alcoholic. Perfect victim for a sadist like Boone, Until she went too far. Hope she’s behind bars for a long time. Can’t believe this trial lasted under 2 weeks. The judge is a star. Patient, polite but steel when it comes to legal shenanigans.
I need a Rust update.

Back to Baldwin! Yay! Judge Sommers gave Kari Morrissey a drubbing and a final denial of all the requests for re-consideration re: the ruling to overturn Baldwin’s case, in legalese of course. The language was spicy, as Emily put it. Kari can take it to the court of appeals but that would be a pointless move. However, Kari M and pointless legal arguments are synonymous. The civil cases between Baldwin and other parties are ongoing, but Kari has been told to F off. Finally. This was an hours long Emily presentation involving other cases. I listened to the Adelson case and wish I hadn’t. I now have a racking headache and and no interest in following this case. The only thing that was interesting in an entire hour of this was the. recording of a jail call saying one of the Adelsons had “washed” money for a hire to kill. Literally washed dollar bills. Maybe ironed it too. Emily said “That’s now how money laundering works, ma’am” was the high point of that palava. So. Buh bye Kari. And now I’m done. That Adelson busyness is me losing the will to live, so nyet to that. Now I need to lie down in a dark room.
Hannah G’s situation is separate from Baldwin now, thank the Lord. Her lawyers are still trying to get her released, so I’ll keep an eye on that. I’ll post when the quick bits come online, this was a marathon.

If anyone is interested in the longer stream I watched about slamming the door on Kari Morrisey yesterday, It’s the first topic in the episode. There’s some dead space in the middle when the signal is lost but it comes back pretty quick. It’s interesting and I love to see Emily enjoy giving us the lowdown. She’s bouncing with delight.
The minute you hear the name Adelson mentioned I advise you to leave
It’s yesterday’s stream. The Baldwin bit is before brain death Adelson.
I’m having problems with YouTube, so I’ll let you find it.

Rust update: Variety

Emily hasn’t commented yet, but it was announced that Rust saw its premiere yesterday in a Polish film festival. The whole thing makes me sick. I’ll post a few bits from Variety. It was boycotted by Helena Hutchin’s family, Apparently it got a “polite” reception in general. Baldwin’s PR people tried to dress it up as a tribute to Helena Hutchins.

…………………….………………………………………………………

Over three years after the accidental on-set death of cinematographer Helyna Hutchins, a polite response during its controversial premiere screening Wednesday at the EnergaCamerimage festival in Toruń, Poland.

The audience clapped through the film’s closing credits, strengthening their applause when a [dedication to Hutchins appeared. However, the film didn’t attract a capacity crowd and a fair amount of moviegoers left the theater before the credits ended, prior to a Q&A with director Joel Souza — who was also injured in the October 2021 gun accident that took place while filming in New Mexico — and cinematographer Bianca Cline, who completed the movie.

Producer and star Alec Baldwin — who was handling the prop gun at the time of the accident — was not invited to attend the festival, according to an event spokesperson. Baldwin was charged with manslaughter but the case was dismissed on the grounds that the prosecution had failed to turn over evidence. (Armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed is serving an 18-month sentence for Hutchins’ death.
Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey — who is suing the production and Baldwin — also didn’t attend, nor did the cinematographer’s husband, Matthew Hutchins, who was named an executive producer on “Rust” as part of the settlement agreement.

The premiere opened with Camerimage organizers Marek Żydowicz and Kazik Suwata asking the audience to stand for a moment of silence for Hutchins. Filmmaker Rachel Mason, Hutchins’ friend who is making a documentary about the completion of the film (and had a small crew at the screening), then made an emotional speech.

“I feel strongly that I need to make a statement about a very misunderstood film and the people who made it, who I believe are heroic people,” Mason said, underlining that the crew returned to set after the accident because of their dedication to and love for Hutchins.

“You could just feel and see the trauma that they had gone through, like a war zone. And I was like, ‘Why would you put yourself back into your most difficult emotional nightmare?'” she continued. “And every single person had the same response to me. When they learned that this film ‘Rust’ might help Halyna’s family, they thought of one thing: the fact that she has a son, and that son doesn’t get to have a mother anymore. And if they could do something for that little boy, then why would they not be there?”

Controversy erupted over the screening of “Rust” at Camerimage when it was announced last month. Żydowicz responded with a statement at that time, which said in part, “The sole purpose of this screening is to honor Halyna’s work, talent, and artistic achievements … Our aim is to honor and fulfill the wishes of Halyna and her family. It was Halyna’s dream to present ‘Rust’ at EnergaCamerimage, and her family wishes for this to happen as well.”

Mason said she wishes she could “know what Halyna would really want” when it came to the completion and premiere of “Rust.”

“But guess what? I can’t ask her,” she said. “For the past three years, I have been living in Halyna’s brain for the 12 days that she was on the set of ‘Rust’ to understand: What did she see in this movie? Did she love this movie? What was she doing there?”

Souza and Cline then took to the stage to deliver their own heartfelt remarks.

“I think it’s so amazing to see people supporting Halyna and what we finished together,” Cline said. “When you watch this film today, you’ll be experiencing the world through Halyna’s eyes. You’ll get to experience her vision of the world and I hope all of you have that in your hearts too as you watch that today.”

Added Souza, “We are here in a place that she loved so much, probably second only to being on set. I want to thank you all for coming and for taking a few hours out of your day to come celebrate my friend and to celebrate her art and her talent. She really was something.

While there were festival goers that chose to stay away from the screening, a few who did attend shared their impressions as they left the theater. A filmmaker from France and Poland noted that “Rust” is a coming-of-age story and said she “kind of forgot about it [the situation surrounding the film] and really went into the movie as a Western.”

A filmmaker from Austria described “Rust” as a “solid Western. … I think it looked beautiful with really amazing cinematography.” He added, “I don’t have any particular opinion if it’s a good or a bad thing that they screened it, but as they said if it’s a thing that Halyna Hutchins had wanted, obviously that’s beautiful.”

Hutchins was an up-and-coming talent, with credits including 2020’s “Archenemy” and “Blindfire” and 2019’s “Darlin.'” She was posthumously awarded honorary membership in the America Society of Cinematographers. Additionally, AFI launched the Halyna Hutchins Memorial Scholarship Fund.

US film director Joel Souza (L) and cinematographer Bianca Cline (R) stand on stage before the first screening of the “Rust” movie at the Camerimage film festival in Torun, Poland, on November 20, 2024. The Western “Rust” will get its world premiere on November 20, 2024 at the Polish film festival, three years on from a shock on-set shooting that killed the cinematographer. Hollywood A-lister Alec Baldwin was accused of violating basic gun safety rules in the 2021 death of Halyna Hutchins, but his involuntary manslaughter trial was dismissed over withheld evidence earlier this year. Director Joel Souza, who was wounded in the shooting, will introduce the movie at the Camerimage film festival – known for celebrating cinematography – in Torun, northern Poland.

Here’s a development.
Kari Morrissey, despite having doors slammed in her face a whole bunch of times, is not giving up on trying Baldwin again. She’s taking it to the Court of Appeals. Emily’s opinion is that Kari will be told to bugger off, but what is wrong with this woman? She’s like a hungry dog with a bone. Obsessed to a mind blowing degree. At least Judge Sommers won’t be troubled with this madwoman now.
