My name is Jesse Presley. A lot of people here knew me as Jesse Jones (at one time Jesse Motorboy, because of So Fast, So Numb) In 2017, I changed my name to Presley, because my step dad was more of a role model than my father (he left when I was 1) I’ve lived in Missouri most of my life. Missouri is in the Midwest USA. The city closest to me is, St.Louis. it is known for the Gateway Arch, because Missouri is where the West starts (kinda) I visited Chicago and kinda fell in love with it. I may live there one day. I graduated from college in December, 2007 with a Bachelors of Fine Art. I worked at Walmart since 2008 and just recently left them.
I grew up in Iowa (midwest US) but went to college in Missouri, lived in Wisconsin for ten years, spent 4.5 years in Mississippi and am now in the Pacific Northwest. I’m north of Seattle but closer to Vancouver, BC than I am to Seattle. I’ve got water on the west side, the Cascades on the east, and the Canadian border to the north. It’s a nice place to live.
Yeah, but those real estate prices…
I’m born and raised and still live in Michigan, in the midwest US. The closest city to me now is Flint, which most people know for murders and lead in the water. The city is actually fun to hang out in, and I worked near downtown for several years. I love going to the farmers market and many of the restaurants are wonderful.
I also spend a fair amount of time in Grayling, which is more in northern Michigan. It’s one of my happy places. Natural beauty all around.
Truth. 600k is median price. It can also get you this lovely place.
My home value just dropped because the 5 acres of woods behind my house just got sold, rezoned to commercial and stripped of trees. I can’t imagine having 600k to drop on a lot.
I am sorry to hear that. That stinks. Did they just change the zoning?
I’m Donna in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I see a lot of familiar names here! Murmurs was a big part of my life - I joined in 1998, if I remember correctly, and I’ve had the great joy and privilege of meeting a lot of you. It’s wonderful to be back. Thank you, Ethan!
Yeah. A year or so ago the township lost out on a Walmart (thank god) and so tried to scramble together some land they could give to commercial development. Luckily my wife found out today it is a contractor supply company that closes at 5 everyday so once we get our own barrier trees planted we can tune them out.
It’s nice to see you here Donna! Did you bring Kelly along too?
Yes! He’ll dip a toe in soon, but he’s back.
Spent the first 57 years of my life living around Bromley in Southeast London. Moved to the Isle of Wight end of June 2020.
Thanks so much I am loving it here already. I have been laid up the past few days with a bad cold so am just getting a chance now to check back in here. And another expat we are prolific here it appears.
Indeed. We walk among them
I hope you feel better this morning.
I’m an autistic 47 yo born and raised in the big city of Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Used to live pretty much downtown, right in the heart of the whole mess, traffic, crime and noise. Absolutely zero nice landscapes to show back there, no nature, just concrete and asphalt and glass and pollution and almost no green. We never had much money, and mobility is far more difficult in Brazil than what you see in the US or Europe, so I just needed to live with family and could never leave the country. Learned English completely by myself, and now I work as a translator and occasional teacher. Been living in the nearby town of Contagem with my wife and son in an area with a little more peace and quiet. Finally.
I was born and raised in rural NC, moved to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area till my mid 30’s, and now I live in Northern Colorado. It’s pretty gorgeous up here. We are very close to Rocky Mountain National park, which is awesome.
