You seem so sad...why not smile

There must be some kind of way outta here
Said the joker to the thief
There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief

Trying to make some sense of it all
But I can see it makes no sense at all
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor?
'Cause I don’t think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with you

Stealers Wheel

And I don’t know how much longer I can take it
House made of heart, break it
Take my head in your hands and shake it
In this near wild heaven
Not near enough

The middle of the road is trying to find me
I’m standing in the middle of life with my plans behind me
Well, I got a smile for everyone I meet
As long as you don’t try dragging my bay
Or dropping the bomb on my street

My baby’s always crying
And my baby wants to see me there cry, too
And chain on my heart is going to break
'Cause every tear that falls in here
Is a dime in the jukebox fury

Crying, crying, crying
It’s hard to understand
That the touch of your hand
Can start me crying

Roy Orbison

Anyone who’s watched the British sitcom Only Fools And Horses will recognise this song being destroyed by a singer with a previously unknown speech impediment. It’s one of the funniest episodes in this long running stellar show. I appreciate that the program first screened in the 80’s and 90’s and society has gotten, um “woke” and people get offended at anything but I’ll defend the show and series to my dying day. It’s immaculate.

She’s got loving like quicksand
Only took one touch of her hand
To blow my mind and I’m in so deep
That I can’t eat and I can’t sleep

(Joe South, though I love the Deep Purple cover)

And I heard you crying in the chapel
On this great big happy sunny day
And I know I live in a jungle
Some things never change

  • Peter Blakeley

I gotta know right now
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy
For the rest of my life?
Will you take me away
Will you make me your wife?

ETA - Meatloaf feat Ellen Foley

I thought it was wrong not to name the lady who did this part of the duet, so I fixed it. This is my fave Meatloaf song.

Baker baker, baking a cake
Make me a day, make me whole again
And I wonder what’s in a day
What’s in your cake this time

  • Tori Amos

cups and cakes
cups and cakes
I’m so full my tummy aches
how sad it must end
but I’m glad I’d a friend
sharing cups and cakes with me

Spinal Tap

Rising to Lori’s challenge, some self penned lyrics

You were expecting
Smell The Glove
Not something about love
And sharing cakes
Women on beaches
Bosoms like peaches
Spinal Tap kick ass
That’s Cuervo Gold
In the glass
Down the hatch!

Down the hatch
A toast and cheer!
For all that I hold dear
Those who betray
Will never see another day
Of my face again

I was watching snippets of GOT the other night, the scene where Arya destroys house Frey.

Another day went by so fast
I wonder how long this year will last
July early morning
The blackbirds have ceased calling
Southern autunm leaves falling
Cloud covered moon
At the end of June

Jack Frost taps the window sill
William Tell atop the hill
Dreaming arrows shoot the hay
Autumn’s color wheel will fade

Soft spoken with a broken jaw
Step outside but not to brawl and
Autumn’s sweet, we call it fall
I’ll make it to the moon if I have to crawl…

I’m the little old woman
Who lives in a shoe
The family’s over
A joyous typhoon
Three generations under our roof
More to arrive,
I can barely compute

I am not the kind of dog
That would keep you waiting
For no good reason
Run a carbon black test on my jaw

The Ones We Love

Get me, get me out
Out of this parking lot
Get me, get me out

Nineteen, so mean
Lips that sting like Queen Frostine
She’s got an icy disposition
Looked back, told me
She was smoking carbon black
I said I’ll see you in the green room
I need, a lead
To get me back on the track
That I’m banking on
If I unwind
I might just fall apart
I might just fall for this place

(The Accidentals)

Hey Nineteen
No, we got nothing in common (We can’t dance together)
No, we can’t talk at all
Please take me along when you slide on down
Nice
Sure looks good
Mmm, mmm, mmm
Skate a little lower, now

Well she was just seventeen
You know what I mean
And the way she looked was way beyond compare

How could I dance with another
When I saw her standing there
