What the hell is going on this new year? Los Angeles is burnt to a cinder! There is a particular new strain of flu that is running rampage even in people that are vaccinated. I’ve got it. So has most of the UK. Things in the world are not improving. It’s all a bewildering clusterfuck. I had hopes for 2025. Maybe I should join some doomsday cult. Regardless of my less than encouraging post, I wish everyone a good year to come despite this introductory shitstorm. For those in California, I cannot begin to imagine what it’s like right now. Healing good wishes to all.

It is being reported down here daily, and interviews on the radio with people caught up in the tragic fires in California. Coming from Australia where there is always risk of such devestating fires in the summer, I feel for the people in L.A.

I believe just because you get the flu vaccine it doesn’t entirely prevent you getting the flu. It can result in getting less sick. But also remember, there is no guarantee that the flu vaccine you get, will actually protect against the current strain in circulation.
I’m aware of that. I know clinicians have to start guessing what strain the next year’s flu will be. Which is why I didn’t get the flu shot for 4 years. They got it wrong 5 years ago. My husband did get vaccinated this time and is as sick as I am. It’s a lottery in a way.
