As part of their induction into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. Can’t wait!
Wow. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it’ll be available on YouTube or something for those of us outside the states.
Those interviews usually are. I believe Bertis posted on FB that it should be online by sometime this afternoon. A lot of times they’re available on both the CBS website and on their YouTube channel.
It’s on CBS’ website and YouTube now.
From comments I’m seeing on social media, evidently there was just the first part of a two part interview. I’m guessing the second part will air on CBS Mornings tomorrow. I don’t recall any mention of it before or after the interview. I guess I somehow managed to miss it.
Did anyone else start tearing up when Bill got emotional? This interview totally made my day.
Not quite, but it was moving. More than that, It’s the first I’ve heard that Bill had regrets, and clearly some profound ones. That admission was astonishing.
It felt to me that he had regrets about It’s impact on the band, but also sounded to me that he perhaps wrestled with a change of heart after a few years but didn’t speak up. Maybe reading too much into it, but i did get that impression. Made my imagination go into overdrive. Bill rejoining after say Reveal would be one of the great “What ifs” for me.
What a fascinating interview.
Yeah, that got me too.
Great interview.
Wow neither did I! I had to check the date on youtube to make sure it was recent!
Thanks! Looking forward to watching this over the weekend, along with the Stipe/Garofalo chat.
The interview was amazing, and the ‘surprise’ performance was, well, a pleasant surprise!
In addition to the captivating admission from Bill, anyone else notice the first hint of a crack in their ‘we shall not reform’ armor?
Mike said something along the lines of, “It’s a shame that we’re all still alive and we aren’t playing together”
I so appreciate the mic-drop way they ended things, but if Bill wanted to do something creative again, I think that all bets are off. Those four have earned the right to do whatever they want. Hell, they made a career out of doing just that. So, if they all got together and wrote and recorded, it would be for them and only them (though I’d hope to be able to hear it at some point).
