Who were we back then?

Wow! So great to see Murmurs is back, it brings me so many memories!

I was zveozdi back then (also known az zvizz, zvizdizizz). I joined the board nearly 19 years ago. I was a confused young adult then, I am a confused middle aged lady now. Used to hang out at the Tractor Bar and my beloved TEP.
I moved to Milano 5 years ago where I work as a designer. I’m not really famous yet, but watch out because I’m working on it-- and failing miserably also. But hey, the food is great here so I can’t complain really.

I was much younger and worked for a healthcare system. Funny enough I now work for another healthcare system where I work with getting medical claims paid. I am still living in Philadelphia. I bought my first house in October 2021.

Still into Nick Drake then I see? Wise decision!

Haha. I must have some (analog) photos of that still somewhere…
Maybe it is time to do a “strike the same pose 20 years later” kind of thing…

Well this is awesome. Corpus then and now. Attorney/Professor. More silver. But hair intact.

Hey folks. I’m Chris. I think I was Dream Brother for most of my tenure but I could also be wrong. Originally signed up sometime in the late 90’s I’d guess? 98 or 99 possibly. I spent a lot of time on Murmurs, and it was the first online community that I felt a part of. I never spent that much time talking about the band themselves, as I was much more interested in discussing other music and media. I did occasionally take some time out to mildly troll people about Mike Mills’ teeth looking green in a photo, mostly because some people took it so seriously.

Back then I was in high school in Ohio, then in college in Maine. I was barely active on the site by the time it folded.

I only ever met a few people from here in person, and they’re all likely long gone save for Ethan, who I hung out with for a bit in Seattle before the band put out Collapse into Now. At the time I was living in Louisville and Ethan told me a little about the album, made some exciting promises about meeting up for the tour that surely was going to follow, and we all know how that turned out.

Now I’m married, about to turn 40, and living in San Diego. We bought a house a couple of years ago, and I spend a lot of time landscaping and gardening.

Hi everyone.

Correction: was the worst. I’m slightly better now, and plus Ted Cruz exists so I can never be the actual worst.

Hi everyone! Lucy here from London, UK.

According to my old emails I originally joined in September 2004 - but that may well have been me signing up to sell some spare tickets as I’m pretty sure I was a lurker before then. My old username was gingerbeer but I don’t go by that anywhere else so time for a small change. I know I had a carefully-curated signature listing all the shows I’d been to.

However most of my teenage postings were on rec.music.rem (sorry!) and I remember making lots of cool friends there back in the day, resulting in (very long story short) these photos here of my amazing fellow-obsessive husband and me with Peter, Mike and Scott on our wedding day in 2017.

I had the same username. I was the host of Love and Life and a a couple of others. Now, still a nurse, 30 years +. I work in Day surgery and Theatres. My babies are now adults, 24 and almost 19. Married for 25 years. Accidentally got old and semi- sensible.

Legitimately don’t remember if my murmurs name was Faeriestar or Solo_o. Joined murmurs probably when it started… Was part of the microwave Q&A insurrection. Now have a husband, 5 yr old daughter, and am getting ready for a move, most likely to New Mexico.

I forget why I was in Seattle. I think it was to meet up with a company called Lively who promptly went bankrupt right after. Also saw the Posies do a show while up there I believe.
